What is HIIT?
HIIT stands for “High Intensity Interval Training”. It’s a form of training designed to get your heart rate up to at least 80% of your maximum heart rate, and then allow your heart rate to come back down before spiking it up again.

How do I perform a HIIT workout?
HIIT can involve doing Intervals while running, rowing or even using the elliptical.
It can also involve doing function fitness exercises such as Jumping jacks, squats and pull ups.
HIIT usually involves intervals or short bursts of exercises followed by rest periods of equal or less length than your working time. TABATA workouts also fall under this category which is where you perform an exercise for a very short allotted amount of time, like 20 seconds, followed by a very short rest period, like 10 seconds, for a certain amount of sets, like 8.
An example of a Tabata workout would be
Jumping Jacks
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 Rounds
Mountain Clumbers
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds
Push ups
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 Rounds
Air Squats
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds
1 minute rest
Jump Lunges
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds
Shoulder tap planks
20 seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds
Butt kickers
20 Seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 rounds
